SamoaTel Successfully Implements JD Edwards Oracle JD Edwards in Record Time
JD Edwards Ensures Effective Management of SamoaTel's Assets
Apia, Samoa - 4 July 2005 - SamoaTel (the national telecommunications carrier of Samoa) today announced that they had commenced using the J.D.Edwards Oracle JD Edwards software after an implementation of only eight weeks.
This is the first of a two-phase project to implement the Financial Management, Human Capital Management and Asset Lifecycle Management modules of the software. The software will manage over one million payroll and costing transactions per annum previously handled across SamoaTel's non-integrated legacy systems. JD Edwards, replacing those stand-alone systems, provides SamoaTel with an integrated, web-based solution that will enable processing of each transaction just once rather than two or three times, improve management information analysis and reporting, and eliminate duplication of data. In addition, SamoaTel's finance and engineering departments are set to be linked by a single database containing all relevant asset management information.
"The combination of Project Costing, Works Orders and the Asset Lifecycle
Management will address cost control issues, simplify our mandatory government
reporting and address potential risk management issues around the ownership
of infrastructure assets," said Christian Fruean, Chief Financial Officer,

planning and moving forward as well as day-to-day management."
SamoaTel chose JD Edwards through partner Jigsaw Services ahead
of Technology One for its ability to tailor its approach to meet the
SamoaTel's unique requirements and reduce interface overheads between
its existing billing system and enterprise resource planning systems.
JD Edwards Oracle JD Edwards is set to prove particularly valuable to SamoaTel
in the area of asset management.
